No #1 pitcher on a playoff team is going to be used all up before the playoffs even start. It's just not necessary and in today's modern game they pretty much limit everybody to 100 pitches.

A #1 pitcher does nothing for your playoff chances if he's worn out and on the IL once all 162 games have been played.

Got to be sad for the long term fans in Oakland like us here in Baltimore.   The city and the state just never would pony up for a stadium and in a league where 90% of the teams have pretty new and nice stadiums it just isnt going to cut it.  The league rejected Angelos's feelers to get out of Baltimore because the city and state put up large packages to refurbish the stadium.  Thus they told Angelos they would never let him leave.  Oakland was different.  The league DEPENDS on the ability to blackmail host cities with the threat of leaving to maximize the owners pocketbooks.  Refusing to let Oakland leave would not be in their interest.  The owners need that fear to grift their host cities.  

Yeah its a sad day.
