Roch: Tex speaks

Why not? I boo all Yankees. I boo the Yankee bat boy. I boo their manager, their pitching coach, and their strength and conditioning coach. I boo players who used to be Yankees. I boo Yankee stadiums, old and new. Why wouldn't you boo a guy from Baltimore who signed with the Yankees for a stereotypical Yankee truckload of cash?

Why someone wouldn't boo this t-bag is beyond me.

He can say whatever he wants. He grew up a Yankee fan in Baltimore (according to him), so he's just another fair-weather local looking to catch on to the current winner. Maybe if the team had been winning, he could have decided to root for them. But, whatever the case is, I don't really care what he has to say and I wish him nothing but failure in NY. The sooner I stop hearing about him the better.

Rep to you. I'm sick of him already. I would have loved to have him here, but I've grown tired of this whole "I'm an Oriole fan/I'm a Yankee fan" schtick.

It was reported that this guy was simply a Boras minion anyway. Good riddance.

Like I said before, how many groups of Yankee fans go on to perform songs about their team after 11 years of losing inspirational enough to be played by the team? I know it is hard to answer since the Yanks do not go 11 years of losing, but my guess is that their fans would not be that passionate if they did.

Pretty soon this guy won't be daring to open his mouth in Baltimore, he'll refuse interviews, he'll worry that the crabcakes are laced with bird----. Yesterday was a good start to his 2009 O-for-OPACY campaign!

O's fans are the greatest WHEN the O's are winning. So we are not the greatest fans when we are losing? Is that what you are intimating Tex?

Fair or foul?

Fair. Attendance is one big indicator. The same can be said about the fans of any team, not just the O's.

I was at the game yesterday and couldnt BOO enough. This guy is a DBAG 100%. I just wish he would be a real man and stop back tracking. One minute he is a yankee fan saying he would cheer for the other team at orioles games . Last night on ESPN or MLB he was saying how he would BOO the other teams when he was a Os fan. What a tool. Im glad we didnt get this clown.

OMG it was hilarious the way the strength and conditioning coach got booed. I tried to boo along, but was too busy cracking up.

As for Tex, of course no one "blames" him for following the money, but how can anyone blame us for not liking him? Should he be cheered by us? Yeah, Tex got rich from the Yanks, woo-hoo good luck to him. I hope he bats .400 with 60 HRs? That wouldn't exactly be productive to our cause.

I boo him because he is a Yankee, not because of his decision and not because I feel he spurned Baltimore.

Don't get me wrong, he is two-faced but what he is doing is being a good politician.

That's cool. Personally, I boo him because he's a money-grubbing, traitorous toolbag. ;)

Squirreled away in this ESPN game recap is this wonderful nugget from Tex.

O's fans are the greatest WHEN the O's are winning. So we are not the greatest fans when we are losing? Is that what you are intimating Tex?

Fair or foul?

Attendance figures tend to give this statement some merit, but, by and large I still say, "go pound sand there Tex!" I for example don't get to too many games but I still consider myself to be a loyal and passionate O's fan. My sense is there are many more like me, as well as those who do get to the stadium on a more consistent basis. This is great sticky material to get the fans even more riled up to boo him mercilessly, as well we should!!!

Print the playoff tickets already!! :smile11:

Go O's. :2yay-thumb:

Wait until he goes into a 2-for-22 slump during a Yankees' homestand and see where the fairweather fans lie. Ask Jason Giambi what it's like for the new, high-dollar Yankee when he can't hit in his home park for any length of time.

Man...between Mt. St. Joe's and Georgia Tech, you'd think the guy would be bright enough to keep his mouth shut. What's the old saying? "Better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt."

    • Good guess. Would be more impressive if they hadn't already announced it!
    • Yea, Tiger SHOULD have. He dominated his sport unlike anyone ever has in basically any sport. He absolutely wins way more if he wasn’t a knucklehead, didn’t get hurt, etc….thats not even up for debate.
    • I had a feeling we might see Cowser on the bench tonight with Kjerstad getting a start in LF.
    • If Mayo comes up, Urias is still here. Hays and Mayo here.  McKenna and Kjerstad down.   If Mayo is unplayable at 3B because of defense but he’s raking, he either goes down or gets worked into the RF/DH mix.   If he doesn’t hit but the fielding is adequate he gets a long leash unless it’s Holliday epically bad.      Lastly, if Mayo is great on both sides of the ball here are some options with Holliday.   He can replace Urias as a backup at 3B and 2B or he can put up numbers at Norfolk. Longterm.  Experiment with Holliday in CF.  He’s got the speed for it and a better arm than Cedric.  If he takes to it, he could replace Mullins as soon as next year.  You could attempt the same thing with Westburg.  Or you could put Holliday at 2B and make Westburg an everyday backup who plays all over.   Or you could trade one of them. I would lean towards the CF experiment for Holliday.   Kills two birds with one stone.
    • Should have? Unless you're saying everyone should reach their ceiling even if they have injuries, I don't think your word choice is correct.  Now Nick is different than Tiger. As Drungo pointed out, he basically treaded water after a great start to his career. I can see you thinking he should have had a better career than he did. I actually think that's probably correct, though I assume it's pure speculation on why he didn't in fact have that career.
    • Yes! 200 mill payroll sure would make my $12  Mic Ultra taste better
    • First, Kids 2 and under are free no matter what.   Second, Kids 9 and under are free - you just have to get tickets in certain sections with a paid adult ticket.  Usually, they run about $17 per ticket.  So, a family of 4 going to the game would be $34.00.  Thats not that bad at all. The Orioles also do a lot of ticketing strategies / plans to make it affordable IF you do plan on attending 4+ games in a season.  Sometimes you just have to do it before the season starts. What I don't like - is that every year the concessions cost more $$$, the portions get smaller, and the parking fee's increase.  I remember back in 2014/2017 you could go get a pretzel for $5.00.  It was decent size and now of course - its like $7.50 and they changed the shape to a small "O"....  All of that is getting out of control.
