Yeah, this could be a debate that lasts 15+ years.   Witt is having the better year, which is really saying something considering the year Gunnar is having.

Up until the ASB most would have said Gunnar...there's still a few seasons left before the books get closed on either of them.

Gunnar needs to work on his defense.

Until Gunnar gets back to reliably catching and throwing the ball, this is no longer close. I imagine he will get the fielding together but this has been about as bad of a run as I can remember.

Witt. He is a more consistent hitter. Gunnar has a few more HR but Witt is hitting over .330. He is just more consistent offensively and probably better on defense as well. That being said, I'd rather have Gunnar-Adley than Witt and whoever else they picked.

It's probably Witt.

I will say this, though...Witt is hitting .337, his on base is .390.  His on base percentage is heavily propped up by his batting average.  If he comes back to earth next year and hits .280-.290, his OBP will probably be somewhere around .330-.340. Still very good, but not what it is this year.  It remains to be seen if Witt will be hitting .330 every year.

Like I said, it's probably Witt but that's due to the defense.  Good news for us is that Gunnar can clean that up.

25 errors was a lot of errors for Gunnar this season. Sometimes it felt like he was getting too emotional out there. Like when he made errors in 5 consecutive games. That was also around the time he ended Mateo's season(s) by being too aggressive. 

So I'll say Witt by a hair. Longterm though? It could go either way. They're the two best players on earth under 25.

I'm just glad that in the "which of these two young superstars is the best" contest, one of them is an Oriole. Wish we could lock him up long-term like KC did with Witt.

This year, it's  Witt. Next year it'll probably be Gunnar. I don't think there is a bad pick between the two.
