Not going to argue but what are your reasons behind this. It seems to be going very smoothly.

Because when people come over the next days and months to look at the draft results, they will have to search a 700 page thread to gather the excellent insights shared.

Wow, still no Tyler Matzek.

His dreams of 7 million are pretty much out the window. Way to overplay your hand Tyler.

He'll still get it.

Porcello got $7M from Detroit in 2007 as the #28-30 pick.

Can we please do the O's draft picks in separate threads?

Please, please give each new draft pick his own thread. I edited McLovin's thread to see the format I'd like to keep in the title although I'd prefer to stay away from negative nellie starting the threads. :D

Well this thread is almost useless then. Most, if not all of the posts are about the Orioles, so if we make another one, wont there just be another thread with over 700 pages?

Ahh, didn't realize that.

I dunno, I don't know if a team will give in to his demands. With the economy the way it is, you'd think someone would've picked him so far considering his talents but no one has. Just makes me think he'll probably settle for 4-5 mil.

I figured instead of clogging the boards with draft thoughts throughout the day, we should just combine it all into one thread. :D Smart thinking eh?

1st round

Washington Nationals: Stephen Strasburg

Seattle Mariners: Dustin Ackley

San Diego Padres:Donovan Tate

Pittsburgh Pirates:Tony Sanchez

Baltimore Orioles:Matt Hobgood

Dang dude, I just meant update the O's picks. My bad.

    • CoC made no assertion of any of that, so just stop. Here is his post in the 'Cal thinks Holiday moved to fast through the system', which was a response to me saying Holiday needed to physically mature some. CoC - 'At 6 feet and 195 pounds, Holliday’s maximum lift on the bench press has jumped to 315 pounds. He can squat 455 pounds, deadlift 500 pounds and box jump 55 inches — more than 4 1/2 feet.' He got that from this article, which he linked: https://www.baltimoresun.com/2024/02/20/orioles-jackson-holliday-offseason-training-program/ Here is the thread, my post and CoC's are on the first page.
    • He looks at every lineup like that. He's been amazing.
    • Again, I never said that.  Quite the opposite.  Being too muscle bound can slow down a swing and running, plus make it harder to throw etc.  I think JH is fine as far as his build.  He will grow into his man body soon enough but in no way do I think JH should get muscle bound nor do I think you need to be to play baseball. Can of Corn implied that by talking about JH's huge, and again wrong, lifting numbers.....I did not.
    • I wouldn't trade Hollidy, Mayo, or Basallo for Crochet, but would definitely try to come up with a package around Kjerstad.  There is no doubt that Crochet is one of the top 10 arms in mlb, IMO, and  trading him is just a WS kind of thing to do.  Crochet could be that dominant arm out of the pen the O's need this year, and next year, the O's big 3 would be Bradish, Crochet and Gray Rod.  Maybe something like Kjerstad, Povich, some prospect in 20-25 range.  Crochet has probably been the best starter in the majors since some bad starts in early April.  ERA in low 1's since then.
    • Trained horses from age 16 or so in the Midwest until I moved out to CA 13 years ago.   They don't have any harness tracks in CA except for a track in Sacramento and that is far away.  In MI there were 7 within 2 hours of me.
    • Wow...some good comments in that thread!  For the record...I would have liked Abreu on a 2 year deal.
