Red Sox: Done for the Year

No Lombardi Trophy, no Stanley Cup, and likely no Commissioner's Trophy. Hopefully the Celtics get knocked out of the playoffs and then there'll be no Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy.

Just punishment for being such an annoying city. I'd probably put my complete hatred of them on the wayside if that all pans out.

On a side note, I am seriously annoyed that the first Google autofill result for "World Series" is "of Poker".

It has gotten even worse.

While Papelbon is out blowing the save against the most hated New York Yankees, Epstein is sleeping at a concert. Tsk tsk tsk

Maybe he was blinking when the shot was taken? I can't believe they're given him a hard time over going to a concert.

I see nothing wrong with Theo taking a few hours off, but that is a heinous fake mustache. How long do you suppose his wife (the blond next to him) argued with him before leaving the house like that? He looks like someone who should be lurking in the parking lot of a truck stop on I-80.

Meanwhile the Sox are now 30-23, only 5 games out of 1st. So much for me gloating about their misfortunes.

Every year someone posts something about the Yankees or Red Sox struggling in April or early May. And every year the team mentioned gets hot and finishes the year contending for the playoffs.

I think some people around here forgot that good teams play an entire 162 game schedule of meaningful games and not 20-40 like the Orioles do before they are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.

Thankfully, both NY and Boston are going to have to overtake Tampa, or one of the two will miss the playoffs. And "close" won't make them happy. God knows, I'd settle for "close" as an O's fan right now. At this point, "close to 4th" sounds good.
