I know it's been said before, but I really don't think the Cubs would trade Veal. Not talking anything talent wise with the trade, just with Veal's personal problems he's been through this offseason. After his mom tragically died, his father was killed in a scuba diving accident and Hendry, Fleita and co. have helped set up trust funds for him which were advertised through various websites including Cubs.com. I know this is a business, but I just don't see Hendry telling Veal and his brother to take a hike after all they've done for him when he could probably be replaced in a trade with players of other need for you guys.

When the engine finally starts, this car will move fast.

I hope that means we'll jump on the Cedeno, Gallagher, Murton, and Veal trade rather than just dilly-dally around. IMO, that's the best possible return we can get for Roberts. Now and through the remainder of his deal.

Would it be perverse of me to think that there is still an iota of a chance that the Reds will come in and offer Bruce for Bedard at the last minute and kill the Mariners deal...?
