What's the normal suspension length for bumping and making contact with an umpire?

I'm not sure.

As I pointed out in another thread' date=' the last time that I remember an umpire getting suspended for bumping a manager was in 2008:

Once in a blue moon, an umpire will get punished.

I remember when Brian Runge got suspended one game for bumping Mets manager Jerry Manuel back in 2008 before he ejected him.

Umpire Brian Runge Suspended by MLB for Bumping Mets' Manuel

(Associated Press)

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/mets/umpire-brian-runge-suspended-mlb-bumping-mets-manuel-article-1.298562

Now, ....... in regard to whether or not an umpire bumping a player/manager is worse than a player/manager bumping an umpire ...... depending on your point of view, one can be more egregious than the other, or they can be equally egregious.

I happen to think that players and managers (in general) are judged more harshly than are umpires for making the same violation. You could argue that that is fair, or you could argue that it is unfair ...... again, depending on your point of view.

Add my name to the list of Os fans who are sick of Big Popup and his antics. He is fun to agitate though. Once at a packed home game I was sitting within shouting distance behind home plate when he was batting and I yelled cmon Big Popup lets go -,make an out. Every Os fan around me was laughing and even a few Boston fans sort of smiled and Ortiz took a mighty swing like he heard me too and was pissed, but got under it and hit a high Popup to RF ! Miguel Gonzales was pitching that day and the Os won, but of course they went on to win it all that year!

Ortiz is a jerk. In all fairness, it probably should be pointed out he and his wife were going through a divorce in 2013 when he attacked the phone. They have since reconciled.

Maybe he's having trouble at home again. I'm not making any excuse for his behavior - he should be fined and suspended - but people sometimes don't act normally if there is marriage trouble.

If I had taken a bat to the phones at my work, when I was getting divorced, it would have been highly frowned upon.

Ortiz must have marital problems 24/7/365 . . .

"Actually, I thought that [he] was one of my guys," he said. "All of a sudden, now he's killing me, huh? I guess anybody who wants to get famous or make some noise comes to Papi, right?"

LOL, yeah Jim Palmer is trying to get famous. What an absolute joke of a man.

One game is a Joke. Agreed.

Depends on severity of the incident. I'm fine with one game. It's the principle of the thing I care about. Next time it should be harsher.

For a man constantly whining about how disrespected he is, he should know he's talking to a guy who had won two WS rings and a CY Young award and built up a HoF resume by the time Papi was in diapers.

I dont thnik Papi agrees with you.

He is a diva and he believes he is bigger than anybody else in the game, now and before him.
