Not looking good

I think Josh Hamilton once hit four homeruns off Chris Tillman. You would think after three Tillman would just throw a 70 mph curveball at his ass and put him on first base with just one pitch. We obviously don't know how to get Betts out so maybe we should just stop trying.

Horrible plate approach. Cant play small ball. No Speed at all. Cant hit sacrifice fly.Cant move runners.Chris Davis has been awful for a month.Cant limit opposing team's walks.Yeah, Brach being bad lately is WELL below those items.

Strike zone recognition by too many hitters is poor. Instead of forcing opposing pitchers to throw strikes to get them out, they swing at pitches well out of the zone (above it, well below it, far outside it.) Swing early in the at-bat, which is okay when the pitch is in a good area of the hitting zone, but they often swing at first pitches that are borderline strikes. The approach frustrates Dempsey and Palmer, too. Palmer has said numerous times that the first two strikes belong to the hitter, meaning the hitter can be more selective than with two strikes, when he has to expand and protect the strike zone to avoid the called strikeout, including by fouling off borderline pitches to extend at-bats. Accepting walks from a pitcher who isn't throwing strikes is a good thing.

They give away early innings of games too often. It's great that they're able to score late in games, but runs scored early count, too.

Re sac flies, a perfect example occurred last week in Oakland. O's down one, Schoop on third, one out, Jones up. The approach should be to look for a pitch to drive in the air. On 1-0 pitch, Jones swings down toward his ankles, and hits a pop-up. Why even consider swinging at that?

They don't do a good job taking advantage of free baserunners (walks, HBPs, errors, muffed play not charged as errors.)

In his 4 homer game he hit two of Arrieta and last one off O'day not sure who the other one was against.

Actually, Chris Davis has only been good in two months in 2016 (1.020 OPS, 9 HR, 24 RBI in June, and .862 OPS, 7HR, 17 RBI in April). He's been miserable otherwise. And he's hit .167 since July 1st with a total of 5 HR and 10 RBI. Pretty dramatic overpay for that level of production.
