Calling it now, they are going to bundle the sound round competitive balance pick with Trumbo's contract during the season.

We can just call that move pulling a Duquette.

Is it pulling a duquette if his bosses tell him to?  DD was out of MLB baseball for a long time when we hired him. He’s 60. I’m sure he’s in no rush to wait around for another job. So he’s gotta do this one.

I didn't say he wants to do it.  I'm sure the other two times he's done it he would have preferred to have ownership just agree to eat the money.

I called the last one and I'm calling this one.  If I'm wrong I'm still batting .500.

Roch wrote this morning that Brady will either have a similar role or receive a promotion.

What’s Brady Anderson’s role in the organization moving forward?
Stays the same or he’s elevated. Those are the two scenarios. He’d gladly take on more responsibilities, but he’s not pushing anyone out the door to do it. And he’s always going to be the Swiss Army knife of baseball executives, no matter which title is attached to his name. People need to accept that instead of harping on how unusual it is. He’s going to train players because conditioning and nutrition are in his wheelhouse. He’s going to shag fly balls in workout clothes and offer one-on-one hitting instruction. He’s going to wear jeans and an open-collar shirt with a sports coat, no matter the function. It’s fine.

This doesn’t add up, Dan the trade whisperer would never stay with a destructive force like Brady around.

DD finally gets to hire his manager.  Of course will people actually want the job?  They only have to deal with,

- a 3-4 year rebuild (that they will likely rack up a terrible record and be fired for)

- Work with Ownership.

- Work with DD

I have a feeling we are going to go really young and/or former player with ties to DD. Jason Varitek?
