There's isn't a good, simple, fair system. The current service time system is their attempt to thread the needle.

Here's a take from a scout of another organization.   Some positive, some negative.

This team has so many flipping DH's.  How in the world do we fit them all.  I don't think Elias loves the idea of Mancini / Stewart / Mountcastle in the outfield.

I see the Wilkerson in CF thing as a pure desperation play.   We literally have no good options.  Or at least that's what Elias seems to think.

It's probably two years or more before we really care if the Orioles' outfield is optimized for contention.  That defensive outfield is ugly, but it's not like that's the thing keeping them from 88 wins in '20.  Things like this have a tendency to work themselves out.

It really seems like we should sell high on Mancini this offseason. Obviously Davis will be cut during or after next season.

I haven't read any breakdowns of Mountcastle in left field. I'd like to see what kind of potential he has there.
