How is Buster supposed to fix it?

He's a journalist, he fixes things by bringing problems to light.

What’s the problem?  Teams like the Orioles aren’t going to to become contenders spending money on the FA margins. At the MLB level Elias inherited next to nothing. Mancini and what else?  Means obviously we didn’t know about. We had just drafted 2 high school arms in the two previous drafts so that help wasn’t on way and he had little in trade chips.

Teams like Oakland and TB didn’t go thru what the Orioles did because they were ran better. Tampa had 4 down years but they didn’t implode, Oakland had some down years but didn’t implode. They also had superior management.

Big difference between not improving the product and not crashing the product (tanking).

This makes no sense. Did Tampa improve by spending or from drafting high forever and making smart pick ups? In 07 the Rays had Kazmir, Shields, Upton, Pena and Crawford with Longoria and Price on the way. What did Elias have in 19?

It’s like people forget the time Orioles were solid from 2012-16 and pushed all their chips in at the cost of the future. Tampa had been in build mode for years. It may seen longer but this is year 3 for the Orioles, not year 7.  There is a cost to winning especially the way the Orioles went about it.

Mountcastle, Grayson, Hall and a 1-1 pick.

Folks really love to cry how bad things were when Elias got here.  If the place was ineptly run as folks like to think how did they ever manage to have a window in the first place?

Yes he came into a rough spot.  The Diamonbacks went from literally nothing to a WS title in four years.

Elias hasn't even been here for three years.

The system isn’t broken

How can you even say that when some teams can throw more money than God at players and others can’t? Look at the Padres vs the dodgers. The Padres are doing all they can to strengthen their team and the dodgers just continue to money whip players.

I’ll say this, you are consistent for having the worst takes on baseball, the Orioles and thankfully that’s all we must endure as that’s the sole focus of this board.

And the four assets you mention there, combined for less than half a win at the ML level so far this year.

How exactly is Adley supposed to produce at the ML level with Elias gaming his service time?

I'm guessing Grayson would be an improvement over what we currently have on the roster as well.

I didn’t say the MiL system was nothing I said the major league team had nothing. It was gutted. What do Hall and Grayson have to do with the winning record of the 2021 Orioles?

I think the people working under Peter did a damn good job under the circumstances. It ended in a train wreck fashion. You have always said they weren’t worried about the future.

The DBacks spent a ton of money like the 97 Marlins and it worked out. I don’t get the parallel.

There isn’t a Gm in baseball who would have Grayson on this team.

Credit goes to Duquette IMO. And Buck. And a lot of luck. I think what people mean about being run ineptly is three things:

1) Davis contract
2) Waiting far too long to blow it up, resulting in some poor trades
3) Bad farm system that had virtually no one ready to replace the players that were traded
Bonus!) Organizationally about 20 years behind the curve of every other team

The reaction From Os fans about a Olney saying this is hysterical.

Baltimore fans have such an inferiority complex.

Btw, more from Buster:

Makes sense that you’d be supportive of a fella who never played the game, is part of the old paradigm of baseball “experts” and is negative toward the Orioles. Baseball writers would be spinning in their graves at this type of provocation from Buster and his pal Ken. They look the part too. A couple of dweebs who probably were picked last in their grade school’s kickball games. They are a couple of jokes and their insights are irrelevant to the game of baseball. If you want to know what Elias is building simply listen to three real experts in the guys at On the Verge. Orioles fans are blessed to have those guys pumping out great content on the future of the Orioles franchise.
