I don't hate trying him in high leverage, but the guy was pretty good for about four innings for a while. I kind of like him in long relief when one of our other starters inevitably implodes

At least we won’t have the once a week agony of pondering why Hyde continued to leave him in after he was done.

 But why the new guy? Are the options on the farm really so bad that a guy who wasn’t a starter, or even an Oriole three days ago has leapfrogged them all?

Wells, but I agree.

Lopez might thrive in that situation and his FB could play up. He’s already sitting 95-96 touching 97-98. And maybe that expedites them getting Wells a shot to start.

No need to outsmart the game. The guy's confidence has to be shot plus he is dealing with his kid getting chemo. Let him prove he can get major league hitters out, then try him in high leverage. Just because he throws hard does not make him a good reliever, just look at Mike Wright.
