For conversation sake let’s assume they stay on 6 man rotation with no injuries and rainouts.

Grod would pitch

Mon - Sept 4 @LAA

Mon -Sept 11 STL

Sun -Sept 17 TB

Sat - Sept 23 @CLE

Sat -Sept 30 BOS

Perhaps they can in a position to skip him vs CLE and then maybe a short outing vs BOS? Maybe 18 innings first 3 games and 4 vs Boston. That’s 156.

Hopefully they don’t go down to the last week of the season to clinch the division.  As soon as that happens GRod, Bradish, and Kremer will not pitch until the playoffs.  Voth, John Means, and they shuttle guys from AAA.

Skipping a start all together could actually be more dangerous.  There is a sweet spot between chronic load and acute load.  He has been on a consistent workload for quite a while now.  To deviate from that significantly and then come back and go hard would put him at risk.  He needs to stay the course, or slightly change his chronic load slightly ie. missing one game by going every 7 days vs. 6.  If he misses one start and has ~12 days in between that could put him in the danger zone.

If they clinch the duvision, they’re going to sit around for several days while the other teams play.  So, I doubt they‘ll skip the starters much at the end.   More likely they’ll limit their innings.  But in any event, it’s unlikely they clinch until sometime in that final week, assuming they do win the division.

Roughly something like that.

2.84 ERA since coming back. Averaging almost exactly 6 IP per start. BB rate is 2.6. k rate is 7.8. Only given up 2 homers and 33 hits. BABIP a little on the lucky side after it was on the unlucky side in his first stint. Tends to even out..overall he’s still more on the unlucky side.

Few more starts like that and he’ll take some votes away from Gunnar.

If he can take the vote away from Gunnar it would mean some historic pitching in September.  We should all pray for that.
