Is Flaherty injured or sick? Kremer starting tonight.

So Flaherty told management he didn't have his stuff after his side work.  Could be anything.  He's had past problems.

I remember in the Game Thread the bad San Diego game some of us thought after the 2nd bad inning he might have been done, but he got  the third.

1st inning - 34 pitches

2nd inning - 39 pitches

3rd inning - 11 pitches

I’m not sure if it’s been said here or in other threads yet, but Showalter was placed on the minor league IL recently after only pitching one inning in his Cards debut. No word on what the injury is other than the dreaded undisclosed.

I'm sure he had to pass a rigorous physical prior to the deal being consummated.

Look at my posts in this thread regarding Gibson and Kremer vs the Jays this year. I’m sure JF felt not 100% or whatever but it seems clear that they want those two guys to throw against the Jays to end the season series. Perhaps more, they want to keep the Jays from seeing JF in case they meet in the postseason.

It does allow the other starters to get back on turn some though.  The 6 man rotation and days off was like a week between starts so this shouldn’t be huge issue with the starters.

After reading the transcripts of Flaherty’s statements, I have absolutely no idea what he said. At first, it seemed like a physical thing. Then, it seemed more like he was working through mechanical changes, maybe. IDK.

Watching him pitch in SD, it looked like his shoulder had some discomfort the way he rolled his shoulder joint several times between pitches. He has had shoulder problems before. However, that may just be his normal mannerisms.

Rom did get pummeled about the head and shoulders in his debut.

Rom got shelled when called up. 3.2 IP, 8 hits, 8 runs, 6 ER, 4 BB, 4K against Pittsburgh.
