I’m just wondering why there’s such a lack of transparency about it. We don’t know hardly anything.

Either as a company or as an individual, you simply don't go around talking publicly about somebody else's medical condition without their permission.  Employee status is irrelevant.

Overlooked in all the gnashing of teeth over Holliday right now............

Is that Elias also had a quote out today that he is 'hopeful' that both Means AND Bradish will be ready to go "early in the first half."

First time I think Elias has been bold enough to tease a possible timetable for Bradish.

I'm hopeful Bradish will be recovered and back to pitching in the rotation by the second half. However, the longer this goes on, the more time he would miss in 2025 if something does go bad and he ends up needed TJ surgery. the worse case scenario is he tried this rehab, get ready to pitch in July, blows it out, then he out most of 2025 as well.

I don't know the grade of strain nor do I know what they should do, but just thinking of the best and worse case scenarios. I hope it works out.

Yeah, in the bad case, with Burnes and likely Means gone, we'd have GRod, Kremer and lots of hope that some prospects turn out.  I surely hope the team spends some money going forward with new owner(s).

“Early” in the first half is by far the most optimistic thing I’ve heard about Bradish.  Honestly, I don’t even think “early” is possible, considering where Bradish is in his throwing progression, unless you consider second half of May “early in the first half.”   However, I’m still happy to hear this, even though Elias is saying he’s “hopeful,” not that this is what he “expects.”

Tyler Wells is around through 2027 as well.

But yes, hopefully they are willing to try the SP free agent market next winter-- especially if Bradish does end up needing TJ.

I think first half of May is still in play with where he is in his progression.  He should have thrown another bullpen in the last couple days but I haven’t heard anything.

Baysox are home the weekend of April 5-7.

Tides initial home games are the following week April 9-14.

We'll see if Bradish or Means can do their 2-inning, 25-pitch kind of first out of a total of 5-6 ramp up outings then.

Either (or both, in a very promising scenario) could be Friday-Saturday starters like the college aces those weeks.

I fully expect Means to pitch in the minors the first week of their season.  He’s already throwing live BP.

    • At least Turner, Realmuto & Marsh are all out. Not that they've missed them much.
    • Yeah Mayo is probably the next difference maker in terms of RHB.
    • Whether they have hit recently or not I don't know what else we would expect against a LHP. It kinda sucks that Mateo-Urias and Cowser-Mullins-Stowers are samehanded. If we wanted another RHB in the lineup you could put Mateo in center and then start Urias but I'm guessing he would not be a difference maker for you.
    • CoC made no assertion of any of that, so just stop. Here is his post in the 'Cal thinks Holiday moved to fast through the system', which was a response to me saying Holiday needed to physically mature some. CoC - 'At 6 feet and 195 pounds, Holliday’s maximum lift on the bench press has jumped to 315 pounds. He can squat 455 pounds, deadlift 500 pounds and box jump 55 inches — more than 4 1/2 feet.' He got that from this article, which he linked: https://www.baltimoresun.com/2024/02/20/orioles-jackson-holliday-offseason-training-program/ Here is the thread, my post and CoC's are on the first page.
    • He looks at every lineup like that. He's been amazing.
    • Again, I never said that.  Quite the opposite.  Being too muscle bound can slow down a swing and running, plus make it harder to throw etc.  I think JH is fine as far as his build.  He will grow into his man body soon enough but in no way do I think JH should get muscle bound nor do I think you need to be to play baseball. Can of Corn implied that by talking about JH's huge, and again wrong, lifting numbers.....I did not.
    • I wouldn't trade Hollidy, Mayo, or Basallo for Crochet, but would definitely try to come up with a package around Kjerstad.  There is no doubt that Crochet is one of the top 10 arms in mlb, IMO, and  trading him is just a WS kind of thing to do.  Crochet could be that dominant arm out of the pen the O's need this year, and next year, the O's big 3 would be Bradish, Crochet and Gray Rod.  Maybe something like Kjerstad, Povich, some prospect in 20-25 range.  Crochet has probably been the best starter in the majors since some bad starts in early April.  ERA in low 1's since then.
