That sucks.

Never like to see guys get hurt.

Add Rizzo to the list of guys seriously hurt because one (or more) of three fielders and the batter/baserunner are running toward the same little square at or near top speed, with little ability to get out of the other guy's way.  It's s situation designed for collision and injury. You can ask Brian Roberts.

Last time I checked we are 3-1 vs. the Yankees this year.  Our guys will be up to play at Yankee stadium.  We sweep or win 2-1.  We are a better team.

Remember the Cardinals??

It's rather ironic that in the biggest series, we pitch our preseason 7-8-9 starters against the Skankees. So far so good with our deep depth in the rotation. What a coup it would be to take the series that way!

Baseball is a funny game sometimes, but you're right, we are going to battle with starters that were not even projected for the opening day rotation. Yet, here we are.

Obviously anytime we have a series against the Yankees it's big, but even if we lose 2 of 3, we'd only be 2.5 games back.

The loss of Coulombe is huge and that bothers me more than the starters honestly. Perez, Akin, Baker and Tate filling key roles if Cano or Kimbrel is not available does not make me feel great. Baker threw the ball in his debut back and has been throwing well in AAA for a bit, so maybe he's a little bit of lightning in a bottle that this team needs in the pen.

Hopefully the O's took notes on the Red Sox exposing Trevino on Sunday night.

Anyone not named McCann, Rutschman, and O'hearn - if you get on base, just run.

Urias and Santander are slower than Rutschman.  O'Hearn is actually faster than Hays and Mountcastle.

At least according to statcast sprint speed which isn't an exact analog to base stealing ability.

I expect the team to roll over for the Yankees like they did the first time they faced them. Or like they did against the Phillies this weekend.

Yup, O’s are 17-6 against the AL East this season and yanks are 9-10 vs the division but let’s just be grateful to win 1 of 3..

I think the Yankees series is very simple. Try to have nobody on base when Judge and Soto come to the plate. Get to there bullpen early. A lot easier said than done.

I have a feeling Judge and Soto get pitched kind of straight this series.     Data is being accumulated for deciding if extreme tactics get rated later on.

    • Yep folks don't seem to understand what we have coming.
    • Was jealous on DSL last year?  Hadn't heard of him?
    • Oh get real man. You said that they probably wouldn't even make the playoffs at a time when that was a nearly a statistical impossibility. You were right about nothing.
    • I would think MLB would like to see offense spike, given the current state of things.  But also, I don't see why anyone wouldn't want the game played with a true strike zone. It will benefit hitters more than pitchers, but ultimately the net impact on offense would be less than you might think after the pitchers adjust and target certain parts of the zone where they are more likely to get calls (possibly the high strike, as umps tend to miss more often off the plate).
    • I'd say there's zippy chance of Basallo being up here this year.  I mean, maybe for a September call up and a few games in Baltimore but that all depends on the pennant race, etc.  No chance Basallo is on the postseason roster unless something unforseen happens.
    • Who did the Rangers bring up with there great pitching prospects?    The Astros won with a lot of low level international pitching guys they signed for very cheap.   The draft is such a crap shoot as is the international signing guys so you try to bring in as much talent as possible then figure out who you have.  Look at how many high draft picks never even touch the majors.  Do you think Elias thought Mayo was gonna be one of the best prospects in the game drafting him in the 4th round?   Do you think he knew Basillo was gonna turn out to be one of the best hitting prospects in the game yet other teams pretty much let him land in our lap by not going after him.  Every single team passed on Henderson, Westburg, Mayo(multiple times) so it isnt like these guys were sure things(not that anyone is).  If he knew Henderson was gonna be an MVP player, Westburg was gonna be an all star, Mayo one of the top power hitting prospects in baseball and all the other guys like rutschman, Cowser, Kjerstadt and Holliday were gonna succeed then maybe he would have looked more at pitching earlier but you don't know which players will succeed so lets blame him.  Druw Jones was the consesus top pick in the MLB draft going in and when we took Holliday everyone was kinda like what are they doing and so far it looks like we are the only one that knew what we were doing.
    • I think we should wait for the deadline.  We're a lock for a WC spot.  So why make a big trade unless it's for a Game 3 SP?  If it's a home game at OPACY then I want a LH SP.   The names that could be available are Snell, Montgomery, Quintana, Tyler Anderson, Reid Detmers, Manaea, and Kikuchi.   I know we've lost 5 in a row, but it's not that bad.  Look who we've lost to.
