Huge flipping win. Not that a loss would have been brutal but clinch season series with Boston and 4 more games off schedule.

Basically went 3-2 in the 4 game series because now they have to beat us not tie us in standings.

BAL clinched season series vs BOS. BAL already clinched vs KC and up 3-0 vs MIN. MIN lost late lead today. NYY plays tonight. Basically 8 teams for 6 spots. I took out TEX. Left TB in but they are really not in race. CLE was swept at MIL, will play @NYY for 3 starting TUE.

BAL magic number to clinch playoff spot is 31.

Yankees and Tigers tied 2-2 in 10th,  Tigers, runner on 2nd.  Single thru the right side.  Tigers win 3-2!

TB lost Fairbanks today - ESPN has them at 4% looking at the sweet sweet AL updated standings with NYY and BAL tie for first at 6 weeks to go.

NL structurally looks similar to me.    5 teams near locks.    The ESPN numbers give Royals 70/30 edge on Red Sox for final berth.    In the NL, they give the Braves 80/20 edge on Mets.

We'll see if Mets like the Red Sox maybe look a little sharper than us intensity wise at this moment...I believe a little of that might be the urgency of clubs having to sweat a tournament berth period.    I don't think the Red Sox or Mets are as good as the Royals or Braves.

Holmes blows save in 9th to tie it and Leiter coughed up 2 in 10th.  At the deadline all the negative nannies were saying how great he was and the huge steal they made.  He has been awful so far since coming over.

Yes but a genius on this board is mad that “Mike” didn’t pick up Mark Leiter at the trade deadline.  I am sure the Yankee version of OH is very pleasant right about now.

Glad we got our new closer, anyway: Dominguez.

Yankees fans are ready to riot if they don't win the division and at least get to the World Series.  They have been demanding for the last couple of years than Cashman and Boone be fired.  I would love to listen to the whining on NY sports radio but those NY accents are like nails on a chalkboard.

Hadn't appreciated they finish Pirates after us.

Pittsburgh don't you dare shut down Paul Skenes.     Can Jared Jones please make it back too?

One of KC-BOS-SEA has to make it but otherwise except us these Cleveland games look like their last ones against a sturdy playoff opponent.

Well it's best for the O's KC/Bos/Sea all stay in the WC race.  i'll be happy if DET packs it in for the rest of the rest by the time the O's face them for 6, although they;ll still be trying to help Skubal on his Cy Young run..

@LAD (3) @COL (3)

NYY

CLE (3) COL (3)
@WAS (3) STL 3

Taking out the COL (3) for each team, here's a comparison of the opponents' records the last ten games:

NYM 4-6
HOU 9-1
LAD 7-3

BAL (5-5) opponent total 20-10

---

CLE 5-5
WAS 4-6
STL 3-7

NYY (5-5) opponent total 12-18

---

This is as challenging a stretch for the O's as it looks at first glance. Fortunately, they do seem (sans research!) to play up to the competition, and with the MFYs lately, you never know. Fingers crossed...
