Thanks, Sonny. Some deals to get this team ready for ST would be nice.

I can not believe the prospect offered for DCab would be Marrero or Snider - two outstanding bats. Parmelee sounds like a possibility.

Agree with SG that any Angels deal is unlikely to include Weaver and I also think the Mariners could beat a core Angels offer around Adenhart and Wood.

If this is true, they have to do the deal, IMO. Cabrera may be a dominate pitcher someday, but based on his progression/regression, I find it unlikely.

I think the FO's real problem with trading DCab is that they're absolutely terrified he'll become a monster on the mound for some other team, and they'll look like idiots for dealing him. They'd rather him fail as an Oriole than succeed elsewhere.

AM needs to cut to the chase here -- it does not matter at all how well Cabrera will likely perform for another team. All that matters is how well he'll perform for the Orioles. If they don't expect significant improvement this season then they need to trade him.

This is extremely well said...I totally agree.

The Angels are not going to trade Weaver!!!!

No idea why you keep suggesting this...It just makes no sense from their point of view...It would be like the Cubs including Rich Hill in a Bedard deal.

Bedard is an upgrade over Weaver in the short term especially against Boston and NY and the Angels are likely to face these teams in the playoffs if they want to get to the WS. A win-now team like the Angels would trade Weaver to upgrade to Bedard if it meant they could get by Boston and NY to get to the WS. Factor in Seattle bidding against them and if they wanted to win the Bedard race, they would probably give up Weaver. He is not untouchable by any means.

I agree with you, in that he may be available, as his .280 BAA and 1.39 WHIP last year was, well.... not good.

Would AM make a deal w/o Weaver in it?

What I find so funny about mentioning trading for Weaver is that we could have simply DRAFTED him in 2004!

That was before Angelos (wisely) abandoned his "never ever deal with poopyhead jerk Boras" strategy. Otherwise known as the "screw your team over to massage your own ego" strategy.

Sorry but you are just wrong and if they would include Weaver, you aren't getting Adenhart AND Wood either.

They would trade Saunders before Weaver and would probably rather trade Saunders, Wood and Adenhart than Weaver and Wood.

Show me something that tells me they wouldn't trade Weaver. If Seattle is bidding against them and Weaver gets it done along with Adenhart and Wood why wouldn't they make that deal? Wood is going to start in AAA, Aybar is their starting SS. Adenhart took a step back last year and is probably another year away. Weaver is 25 and he regressed as well last year and was lit up in the playoffs and the regular season against Boston. The only ML guy they'd be losing in the deal is Weaver and he's replaced by Bedard. You can't say they won't give up Weaver as well as Wood and Adenhart because you don't know how desperate they would be to keep Bedard out of Seattle.

    • Farewell to Ryan McKenna, claimed on waivers by the Giants after being DFA'd the other day. We all have followed his career since his great 2018 season at Frederick. Ryan Mountcastle,  Cedric Mullins, and Nick Vespi are now the three remaining members of the Orioles 2015 draft class still in the organization.
    • I can see Adley aging on the Posey curve. He probably has until age 35 before he will hang up the spikes/be a negative valued baseball player. IMO Adley's defense is average, he has a below average throwing arm. But his bat is excellent. And there is no arguing that his presence has made a tremendous impact since the very first day that he stepped onto a Major League field for the O's. Gunnar may not extend because of Boras and the same may turn out to be the case for Holliday. But that should not preclude us from locking up the other guys who prove to be special. Right now Adley is that IMO and Westburg appears to be working his way toward that. But even if we do not extend our own guys, we should bring in others who will sign and impact winning in a positive manner.  Again IMO, not spending and cutting cost is not the way to go for franchise viability/growth. Customers/fans are more informed than ever and have more entertainment options than ever. Your message to them cannot be come out to see the Orioles just because we are the Orioles or "Hey we will probably win more than we lose (like the Rays) but won't make any real efforts to seize opportunities (by spending) when they are there." San Diego doesn't have a problem with fan engagement/attendance even though they don't/haven't won big because they have captured the attention of that market and become relevant by signing star players. And showing their fanbase that they are invested. I am not saying that I want to be like the Padres, but I certainly want the O's to be/remain relevant in this market (like they are now). Every time I take my kids to games, they are excited to go (in particular my youngest). That is how you capture the next generation of O's fans - by being relevant. 3 years ago I couldn't get my kids to go to an Orioles game no matter what! Conversely, I have never had that issue with the Ravens. They've always wanted to attend their games (even practices/training camp).
    • I see Toronto has lost the first two to Tampa for a 3-game losing streak after John Schneider's emotional proclamation of a "big win for May 14th" Monday night. They were up 4-0 with Gausman heading into the 6th today, but....nope.
    • Perfect.   That's when my salmon/tuna poke bowl will arrive via Uber Eats.
    • I'm way too much a snob for Blink-182. I was honestly just about to post this on the music forum.   Apparently he's Czech.  I'm not finding links in English. Anyhoo working on a Peel Session Spotify playlist.
    • With a couple of exceptions it’s almost like the bottom of the draft was better than the top of the draft
