Orioles trade Davies for Parra. Your verdict?

I'd rather watch Gausman, Ubaldo, Gonzo, Tillman, and a sweet free agent starter that we sign in the offseason. We'll see about Davies.

I agree...Davies is (was) a sell high prospect for me right now and I think he was definitely worth it. Plus, I am not willing to roll the dice on a surprise prospect pitcher...we needed to get serious the last two offseasons IMO, and we really didn't. We have seen that blow up a bit while watching prospects get hurt and/or not progress like we hoped.

So I am looking to make some moves...although I am not necessarily only looking to make "now" moves, I would like things like Hunter for a prospect type moves as well.

I guess my point is that I want to go get a number 1 starter (for the first time since Mussina) in Baltimore this offseason, and the more we focus on "maybes" in our system when we have chances to sell high on one or two once in awhile, the less likely we are to go and get a guy that can lead a rotation and win some games in a playoff series...our mediocre rotation would improve dramatically if these guys all took a step down to #2, 3 & 4 starters to make room for a stud at the front...

So that's why I don't mind Davies being traded...he wasn't a #1 in the making...for guys like that (Gausman, Bundy, Hunter) I am more hesitant to move them...better be a huge return for multiple years of control to put us over the top...

Technically that was before the window, as our season had yet to end. The window is the two weeks ( I believe) after the World Series.

Was not on a window or a recent trade. He was extended as was Jones as a member of the team. That happens often.

Signing a player to a market value contract shouldn't have any impact on the trade itself.

The point is that the trade does nothing to push us closer to contention and we trade a starter with six years of control for that.

The trade is ONLY a good one IF we make the playoffs. Only one East team is getting a wildcard, and it sure looks like Toronto. Tulo, Price, Revere, Lowe.... we had trouble getting wins against them before.
