Marlins signed catcher Paul Lo Duca to a minor league contract and assigned him to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Let go by the Nationals after hitting .230/.301/.281 while making $5 million, Lo Duca returns to the organization he played for in 2004 and 2005. John Baker is currently the Marlins' starter, with Matt Treanor backing him up, but Lo Duca could get a look before rosters expand next month.

I guess a Ramon trade is out of the question now.

I doubt it.

LoDuca is horrible, he isn't an upgrade over what they have.

Ramon, unlike LoDuca, might actually improve the Marlins chances at the postseason.
