If you're Stewart though, this has to feel at least a little annoying. Back-to-back years where he's only really gotten the final two months of the season. Granted, they did call him up earlier and he didn't perform and got hurt.

Well if he is "annoyed" and honestly his injury had more to do with him losing time this year than anything else, let him take it out on the ball. Santander has taken advantage of his opportunity. Now it's time for Stewart to do the same thing.

He won't be annoyed when he gets his check.

I really think this is what they need to do at this point. This team can't keep running out Jace Peterson at 3B if it wants to evaluate Santander, Wilkerson and Stewart at the same time. Move Nunez to 3B full time and if he's unable physically to play there (I wonder if he got something that stops him from throwing effectively but doesn't hurt his hitting) then Davis has to go to the bench with Mancini taking over at 1B.

Peterson is coming off a good game, and he's a decent utility guy, but we have Alberto and Peterson is not part of the future here.

Yeah I don't get the whole Peterson thing.  If the goal is to take inventory of what you have, Peterson certainly isn't part of it.  Playing Nunez at third allows you to gauge whether he can be an acceptable defender there while also getting a look at the outfielders like you said.

He didn’t hit well enough in Norfolk last year to warrant getting called up any earlier than he did.    I think they called him up at roughly the right time this year, and it’s a shame that he got hurt soon after that.   Hopefully he’ll get plenty of playing time now that he’s back.

I don't think that is Hyde/Elias style.   That will not let guys set into a position.   Instead I think we will see guys rotating all over the field.    Davis will still get some time.  Stewart will see time at LF/RF/DH.         Everybody will be shifted around and rested at times.   JMO

Allegedly, so was Mark Trumbo, and we know how that worked out.

Trumbo was never an actual outfielder. Prior to being acquired by the Orioles he started 82, 41, 24,  97 and 0 games in the outfield while starting 50, 45, 131, 46 and 143 games at other positions.

Their actions say they don’t think Nunez can handle 3rd. If it was truly a tryout there for him the second Ruiz went down he should have been playing 3rd everyday.
