Well, if that contract was on the table, it doesn't mean he would say otherwise.

I tend to believe him because ownership doesn't care about the product or the fans.

But the reality is that almost nothing said by a GM means anything.

If it was, I think he would have been even more noncommittal, i.e. "we'll see what opportunities present themselves," "we're keeping an eye on the market," etc.
