He might have been the only righty available, and the middle of the order is pretty righthanded.   I think the only guys left in the pen that didn't pitch last night are Fry, Akin, and Alex Wells.   Unless I am forgetting someone.   Figures the one game I don't chart who is available in the bullpen ahead of time so I don't have the info in front of me.

He should not have been on the roster in the first place, as everyone else is saying of course.

Unless there was an injury, there was no reason to take out Baumann.

Latin’s was here because they needed an arm for a few days then he will be DFA’d.   Whoever they brought up was only going to be here a few days.  The new CBA only allows a guy to go up and down 4 times so you don’t want to use one of those times this early in the season for a couple days and burn one of those 4 call ups.

There was a RAIN DELAY.  And that automatically means whoever is pitching, even if it's God himself, cannot come back out after a rain delay.

(We agree, it's stupid that Baumann couldn't come back out)

There is an exemption to that rule for April of this year due to the shortened spring training so that is not the case.   They don't start counting up-and-downs until May 2 when the roster drops to 26.

Moves like this really make me question what Elias is doing or honestly, if he knows what he;s doing.

Lakins was not good AAA. Why is he the guy you bring up when you need a reliever?

Because you can DFA him and you don't care if you lose him? Guess, what, that's last year's BS.

Sedlock, Hartman, Diplan and Vespi were probably all better options.

Made perfect sense to add Lakins to the roster. Giving the more talented pitchers AAA experience, building their confidence, deferring their service time, and keeping the high minor league ranking are, for Elias, a higher priority than improving the Orioles.

If they don't coddle the pitchers they could get hurt like Hall and Means.
