That's fine. But Hyde better realize that McCann doesn't play at all in the playoffs

Wow.

They have beaten three good pitchers many times this year. Thing about this year though is much of the East is down a bit.  This is a good opportunity.

Not really.   if you had told me we would be going into a home series with Tampa  in September 1 game up, before the season, with the other three AL teams virtually eliminated from the division titleI would have been overjoyed.

If you had told me on June 9 when Tampa was 47-19 and 6.5 games ahead of us that we would have been up a game when we played them in September, I would have been even happier.

We always knew that the division was likely to come down to this series this weekend.   I'd love to be 3 games up a lot more than to be 1 game up going into it, and I hope that can happen, but either way this series is going to decide it.   We've been a superior team to Tampa since the start of the season by at least 2 games, and since June 9 by 7.5 games.

Bring it on!  You have to beat the best to be the best.

The one thing I’d kinda like to see (probably more for next season) is a little less of Adley DHing when he isn’t catching. 

I’d like to see him get a few more rest days, and I’m not sure the batting difference between he and whatever guy fully sits out that night (Mountcastle, O’Hearn, Santander, etc) justifies putting a bit more wear and tear on him.

Plus, it’s tough to have no ability to hit for McCann in some of these situations. Maybe you don’t pull him against a lefty (like there), but there are some situations where you’d really rather be able to go with someone else late in the game…and you just can’t when Adley is DHing.

Adley is never going to be the hitter we thought he was going to be.  Just the nature of the position.  It takes a huge toll on the body.

 

He is a Matt Weiters 2.0 who is better looking and with a better team disposition and attitude. 

 

Hate to say it but it is true.  Catchers just simply can't become elite hitters.

      See, you just can't help yourself.  You gotta get personal haha.  Never fails.  I see that a lot on internet message boards and to me it is always a sign of weakness and/or they have no argument.    Be better.

      Exactly, your point about his upside is one of reasons I advocate him to play CF . And yes our personnel has an opening at CF . Jackson is 20 now and still at AAA . What better time to start crash course on CF than now ?

      This is crazy to me.  Holliday has shown 29 fps sprint speed in a very short stint up, which is plus-plus speed.  Sprint speed doesn't even peak until like 23 or 24, so he might go even higher.  Sprint speed is one of the universal hallmarks of raw athleticism and a Holliday is really fast.   The argument for athleticism applies doe people like Juan Soto, who is a once-in-a-generation hitter but appears to be pretty mediocre as an athlete by MLB standards.  There's no way Holliday fits that description.   And if athleticism benchmarks are too specialized, just look at his defense.  He's rated at +2 at 2b in only 2 weeks by OAA, and he hasn't even looked his best.  A mediocre athlete wouldn't be able to handle the dynamic movements of a MI position the way Holliday has.

      My first 2 choices to trade would be Holliday and Heston of the guys who really haven't played on the Os much yet.  I think you could get almost whatever you want for Holliday (big time starter) and add in a couple of pieces with Heston and get 2 really good relievers.    And before you ask me who?  We have all seen the names on here but guys on other teams are really not by forte.  I will leave that to the experts.  Anyway..... Bingo, your pitching staff is much better.  You can win a WS this year and have pitching for next year.  All without hurting the team this year and maybe not even next. BTW in this scenario I resign Santa in place of Heston.
