Corbin Burnes isn't going anywhere.

Totally agree. There really isn't a lot of precedent for an ace-type pitcher with 1 year left to be traded in the offseason. Or at least it's fairly rare. That plus he's guaranteed to not accept an extension makes him kind of an unattractive trade option for any team other than maybe someone desperate like the Yankees.

Not sure why anyone is even mentioning that Burnes doesn’t want to sign an extension and therefore that means he will stay.

That is irrelevant. It’s unlikely any team trading for him thought that was going to happen.

The relationship between him and Brewers is strained.

His value is higher now then it will be, at the break.

The Brewers have no leverage anymore.

*Strike now O's. Someone is going to acquire him.

I'm warming up to the Burnes idea if it's not too costly in terms of prospects.   I'd give him the QO at the end of the year knowing that another team will pay a large sum for him.

I don't believe that Burnes not extending makes him a less attractive trade option. If anything it forces the ask from the Brewers to be lower.

99% of players traded at the deadline are pending free agents. Did that make them unattractive trade options? It is still a matter of making a deal you can live with.

The Adrian Houser move is hard to understand going towards Burnes' walk year.

I think Glasnow Rays to Dodgers is maybe as unique a context switch as Shohei Ohtani's talents.    I don't think Burnes has Glasnow's thirst for spending the rest of his prime with wherever he ends up, even if he doesn't end up in what is obviously the best spot.

36-ish hours before the league mostly shutters (or at least media would hope they do).     Certainly if a Club wanted to do anything maybe PR squishy like close a deal on a player with some warts, they might try and get it done so it can blow over some during the holidays.
