Sounds more like a guy on his 2nd rehab start pitching in front of 6,270 people in a meaningless (to him) AAA game.

Sure, maybe. I'm not going to say it's out of the question that a guy who had UCL issues and is lucky to be pitching at all is confident going max effort.

3rd rehab start, 2nd in AAA.

People are always obsessing about velocity.  I’m easily just as interested, if not more, in whether a pitcher has command of his various pitches and can mix them up enough to keep hitters off balance.  I’m not saying velocity is unimportant, but being at ones top velocity is neither necessary nor sufficient to succeed for most pitchers.

I never said I was worried about his velocity, if he's effective, great. I don't think you need to throw 97 to be a good pitcher. Velocity is down on nearly all of our starters this season, they seem to be doing okay.

I wasn’t aiming my comment directly at you.  More of a general observation about many posters.

I think some folks are correlating velocity with arm health.

Perhaps you could use your imagination and come up with someone?

Sure, the Orioles are qualified to do that.   You mentioned someone (like who?) to watch Bradish pitch on TV or in person and see if his pitch shapes were back or close to normal Bradish levels.

Really pleasantly surprised that he seemingly has healed up so quickly after the platelet injection.   I had the same injury plus a chip the size of a quarter in my elbow at the tear spot and didn't get surgery either.  This was around 2 years ago.   I was bowling and my elbow just completely blew out during one of my shots.   Turned black and blue and the entire elbow swelled up.   Went to the specialist and got the MRI and xrays and it was a mess.   Of course they recommended surgery but seeing as how I was bowling in multiple tournies and leagues at the time, and lifting weights, I decided against it as surgery would have laid me up for many months.

So I rested it, kept lightly working out, and within 45 days or so the swelling and discoloration went away and I started bowling again and have bowled 10-15 games a week since with little issue.   I just feel twinges now and then.  Working out 4 days a week as well.  So it is possible to come back from this without surgery.

Of course I am not trying to throw a baseball 90 mph every 5 days either.   That is really the only time it hurts, when I throw overhand.  Of course he doesn't have a bone chip in his elbow either.  Just the small tear.   If he can get through the first few games without a problem I think he will last the year.   We shall see.

What I said was just an observation about him being off a couple of mph. Doesn't mean everything, but my biggest concern with a pitcher working through an injury is trying to do less to either save his arm or potentially injuring another part of his arm by a slight change in his delivery. It goes without saying that I'm sure every eye is on him to try and protect him from something like that.

Only threw 15 sliders last night (19%). Last season he lived off his slider, using it at a 31% rate.

This is something to follow as he gets back to it.    During his growth to Cy Young contender, at times I heard him characterized as a "bad fastball" pitcher by pundits.

Especially before he complemented the 4-seam with the 2-seam, I had the impression against LH bats with power he knew he was playing roulette whenever he had to throw a strike with the fastball.

Verdugo is hot, and Boone's bumped him up to cleanup so it may be Soto, him and Rizzo 2-4-5 for Bradish's debut.
