Who is "selling" this year?

I think HOU will pick it up when some SPs get healthy.

NYM has the horses and the motive, but they've been a grab bag of results.  Ottavino is having a career year but if they are selling, he's a potential.

If Wells and Perez are in the bullpen with Coulumbe, Akin, Cano and Kimbrel, and maybe Irvin, there aren't a lot of spots needed to fill.

This would require a lot of optimal scenarios to play out. And I still wouldn't feel that great about the pen you listed.

Im not much of a fan for dealing top prospects for a 40+ year old however, If Astros keep falling, I'd want to know if the new owner will pay for and what the Astros will want for Verlander. A prospect like Fabian, then Mountcastle help solve their 1B issue? Though he may still have stuff left in the tank i dont see paying up too much more than that for a 41 year old that comes at a big $ cost... Im not a big fan of the idea but it adds temporary SP and clears way for Mayo.

It remains to be seen.  I agree with the Tier 1 losers, those teams have no hope.  The rest of the group listed, some of those teams are playing to see exactly how far they are from their contention and if they should stay the course or blow it up.  For example, I don't peg the Nationals to be sellers, they've got some good young talent coming up and are firmly entrenched in their rebuild.  I think they should add to it, but I don't see them selling off anyone who they could have team control over for the next few years and identify as part of their rebuild.

I'm assuming Mason Miller would cost a high premium to pry away from the A's, but he'd slot in perfectly to be able to bridge to Kimbrel and maybe be a 1-2 closer combo with Bautista when he returns.

Beeks from the Rockies.

I'd be really focused on upgrading the bullpen.  I think the rotation has a chance to be solid.

Miller is going to cost too much, even if available. Miami has Ed Cabrera , again big cost, but could be a really nice addition as a starter or out of the pen. CWS have a pitcher named Steven Wilson that could easily upgrade Tate Or Baumenn. Depends on what Happens to our starters If Bradish or Means gets back could push Suarez, Wells to the Pen which would be an upgrade. A lot left to play out

Wells and Povich could be in the game. If Wells is healthy, I like that potential internally.

Nice work.  It's looking like a good possibility the Astros will be deadline sellers -- or maybe buyers/sellers.  Not sure who would be available, but they have a decent arm or two not named Josh Hader.

I know you have him in your long shots section but I can't see how Cleveland would trade Clase unless they went into freefall, which I suppose is possible considering all the injuries they are dealing with.  They have the best record in baseball so it seems unlikely.

I can’t fathom why anyone would want a Tanner Scott return. In 10 innings, he is 0-4 with a 1.78 whip. He was maddening before, and now he’s older.

But I wonder if the Red Sox would part with Justin Slaten? He’s been pretty outstanding. Yeah, only 8 innings, but we hired Yohan Ramirez, and he’s been a catastrophe in 10.

Yes, I know he’s a rule 5, and the Bosox are in the East. And their pitching is pretty thin, too. But they know they aren’t going anywhere in this division, and they might think getting a good return for a Free Rule 5 guy might be worthwhile.
