It’s amazing just how mediocre this bullpen is. Not a single trustworthy arm. But certainly some better than Perez there.

In other news, DO Hall threw 4.2 inning, gave up 3 runs, and struck out 9. Not a bad first game back.

 

Stupid Hyde… stupid decision. I was ok with pulling Suarez before the 6th, but once he retired the first two guys so easily, there’s no reason not to let him have the final out.

This has to be the first time a starter was pulled with two outs and none on because Ben Rortvedt was coming up.

Cano pitched back to back. Have to think he isn't available today. 

Soto has been even worse than Cionel. The other choice would have been Akin.

Perez's location wasn't that bad but all his pitches were ~1.4mph below his season average.

i know it’s a tired discussion as it’s taken over the game, but the reliance on pitch count and analytics, and removing in game feel renders the manager pretty useless. 

there’s no defending taking Suarez out other than a higher than normal pitch count which was not high for a pitcher who has been stretched out. Let him finish the inning!

Well, we haven't been held to one run or less since before the All Star Break.   So I'd say a pretty damn good chance.

No issue pulling Suarez.  Did his job and exceeded expectations.  Rays BP comes in and gets outs.  All Perez needed to do was get one out.
