No way is Cano worth all of that money. He is not that great.

If by not great you mean a guy who has an excellent shot at being a future HOFer with fWAR of 6.4, 5.3, 7.7 and 6.0 over the last 4 years then you are correct. Just for the record, he has the 2nd highest fWAR in baseball over the last 4 years only behind Miguel Cabrera.

Actually he is pretty great. I would be delighted if the team signed Cano.

He's great, but not $225-$300 million great. If his contract does go that high, whoever signs him will ultimately regret it A-Rod style, IMHO.

All the big name free agents are terribly overpriced. So if you sign any of them you are most likely making a big mistake. If we sign Cano there is every reason to think he won't be worth the money but at least he is in a position of need and unlike the other free agents he has the numbers to back up the demands.

I just can't shake the image of him not running out ground balls and dogging it in the playoffs against us and the Tigers.

Imagine how much he will dog it when he isn't even in the playoffs.

I bet he would be great like Tejada for a year.
