They have talked about it. I haven't been giving any information about the uniforms other then that.

Well, they've got one day to decide one way or the other...not that they have to announce it at the time anyway.

We're all glad that I'm not in charge, but if I was, I'd get the paperwork in, try to keep it a secret, and then roll it out as a surprise. Not say a word, just have them take the field that way.

Of course, with modern merchandising, I don't know if that's even possible anymore, but still...

When the O's changed/updated their uniforms in '89, '95, and '04 does anyone remember when they announced it? I remember hearing about the '89 and '95 changes sometime in the mid to late summer of the previous seasons.

They'll definitely want to announce it by November so that they can sell it over the Christmas season. :)

In addition to putting Baltimore on the road uniforms, if the O's make changes to the uniform's I hope they will also consider looking at changes the Indians made this year. They dropped the cursive script and are using a block lettering. I think it looks great!

Here is a link to a picture...

I hope not. The O's script is a good tradition. They've had it the whole time, except for a couple years when they had a Jackie Brandt-designed block letter jersey (with a "B" on the hat for one of those years). When they came to their senses and went back to the script, they won the WS.

The sketch below makes it look better than it really did...

That Indians jersey is a home ALTERNATE. It is not the regular jersey.

It's also one of my potential nightmares for what might come of this "Baltimore back on the roads" scenario.

Even though the submission deadline is 05-31, these things aren't officially announced until much later (although they're usually leaked mid-summer). Interestingly enough, Atlanta's new for 2008 road alternate set was not leaked, or even announced before they debuted it on Opening Night in DC.

According to today's Sun, it's going to happen:

MAIN ARTICLE

MAESE's COLUMN

As an Orioles fan, I'm happy with this decision. As an Orioles fan who is also a jersey collector--if they do what they've done in Frederick and Bowie, and turn up next season with road jerseys that look like orange and black versions of the Yankee$ (city name in block letters with no front numbers)--I'm going to be very, very irritated.

My jury remains out.
