6 innings in 93 pitches is pretty efficient when your defense makes 3 errors behind you.    He's been pretty consistent so far, though not really dominant.

I agree.  Extra outs to get.  Extra baserunners on.  More pitching in the stretch vs. the wind up.  He's clearly seperated himself from the other NCAA guys like Dietz and Akin.  There's a reason he went round 1.

In his last start Sedlock recorded 9 GB outs vs. 3 FB outs.  He also had 3 errors commited by infielders that were most likely 3 additional ground balls.  The infield defense behind him in Frederick last night was pretty terrible.

Reyes at 3rd

Mountcastle at SS

Wilkerson at 2B

Mercedes at 1B

That speaks for itself.  We need to get this guy to Bowie ASAP.  He's a sinker guy that we don't want to get frustrated and start trying to be something he's not because he doesn't trust his defense.  Give him a couple more starts and then move him to Bowie.  He'll be 22 in two months and pitched for a surprisingly top level B1G team in NCAA.  Playing in front of Marin and Rosa will really help him.

3.  I still have a feeling that Akin comes around and is just as highly regarded as Sedlock.   He is off to a very uneven start though.   Dietz looks like a project along the lines of Peralta going into last year.

I think it takes more than 3 starts to judge these guys.    I'm in no hurry to see Sedlock promoted, nor am I panicked about Akin yet. I am a little worried about Dietz, since he struggled at Aberdeen last year.

I think one more good start after today and Sedlock goes to Bowie.  He seem to be way ahead of the competition in the Carolina League.

5 IP 1 H 0 ER 3 BB 5 k's.  1.64 ERA over four starts now.  Appears to be the real deal.

Maybe you promote him in mid-May if he keeps dominating.  So another four starts or so.

I seriously doubt he gets promoted before mid/late May, if then.    It's not like he's striking out a ton of guys.

    • Any chance Ramirez passes through waivers? The stuff is intriguing. He made Juan Soto look silly last night.
    • If you look solely at ERA, Akin from 2022-2024 is 3.93, and Bauman for 2023-2024 is 3.84. If you look at FIP/xFIP, which has historically proven more predictive of future performance, Akin has been ~1.3 runs better over that those timeframes.
    • I want them to win every game, but that's not going to happen. Win or lose today, they're still the team that's going to win the AL East. We have to have lineups like this in order to do that.
    • If people are saying "$24 for a beer is insane, but I can always just lump that in with the rest of my crippling credit card debt" the situation may be more dire than I thought. But then again, I've also read the the average new car transaction in 2023 was $47k, and 10-year loans are not uncommon. So I guess a lot of people figure they can just roll the loans over until they die...
    • So my son that is "into it" is still just 5, keep in mind. So he's equally into whatever I'm doing as much as the activity itself. But I do think I'll be able to foster it with him and potentially have a lot of rounds together in our future. I hope that entices the other two a bit, but they will probably follow my wife's lead. She's a fan as well, so I am confident it will become a family affair. That's the #1 reason for joining a club right there - I pay the same amount whether I play alone or with all 5 of us.
    • Fair enough, I just re-read your post, and you're right, I misunderstood it.
