Yes.

Similar career arc in center.

I don’t think prime Hays will be as good defensively as prime Jones.   And I say that realizing that prime Jones was overrated.

By the way, I took a look at Hays’ sprint speed from his 2017 call-up — 28.9 ft/sec.    That’s faster than I would have guessed, and fast enough for CF.

This from MLB Pipeline:

Hays has played all three outfield positions as a pro, but profiles best in right field because he has average speed and range as well as plus arm strength. He will need to hit for average and power to hold down the position in the big leagues, and the Orioles are confident that a fully healthy Hays will be able to get back on track toward reaching his potential in 2019.

Hays is in right tonight and I think Diaz is in center - wonder if that could be the combination.

They like moving these guys around in the minors.  From what I've seen they prefer Hays in center and Diaz in right.  I think Hays has a little more range and his arm is also a little stronger.  Both can be plus defenders in the corners.

That's true about moving around. It sounds like both have very good arms.

I'm guessing when Diaz is ready to go back to Bowie, Hays will go to Norfolk. I think the Orioles would want to keep McKenna playing regularly, plus they have  Nichting and Rifaela.

Are you guessing based on what is likely to happen or are you hoping?   Diaz will probably be in Bowie within the next week and Hays is going to stay there for awhile.  Nichting and Rifaela are org guys and can DH or sit on the bench.  They don't figure into the promotion decisions on actual prospects.

My prediction:  You see an OF of Diaz, McKenna, and Hays in Bowie for at least a month.
