Boras's strategy is wise, but hardly novel. Ask way more than the product is worth, thus making it seem like a bargain when the price comes down some, but still more than the real market value.
Salesmanship 101.

It's sad that his sales pitch is pathetically so simple, yet GM's still keep falling for this.

I was trying to post "Is Hyde brain dead?" as soon as I saw Kimbrel coming into the game.

  It might be half Corbin Burnes' 2025 salary?!?! I think Angelos has Stockholm Syndrome'd some of the fans - 1/18 is not an extreme sum for a top half of rotation pitcher. B-Ref teaches me Eflin was 1st round in the 2012 draft out of the same high school Mountcastle came out of in the 2015 draft. If Mountcastle was there all four years, I think that works out to Eflin was a senior when Mountcastle was a freshman. Are freshmen who are future 1st rounders varsity material in 9th grade? Padres 2012 draft - Max Fried and Zach Eflin a nice 1-2 punch as a couple of high school arms at the top of the draft.
