Last year's Eastern League wRC+ leaders at the 200 PA threshold many top Orioles were there:

Cowser 184, Gunnar 176, Kerry Carpenter 164, Brett Baty 160, Andres Chaparro 158, Norby 157

So far this year on the Baysox: Kjerstad 204, Prieto 164, Rhodes 126, Mayo 113

It may be a SSS, but seeing him get off to a good start in a SSS is certainly better than seeing him struggle in a SSS.

Kjerstad, 2024 O's starting 1B!  If you've been watching, Mountcastle's OBP is still under .300 even w/ all the power.

Is there any reason for him to be in Bowie much longer?

Between AFL, Spring Training and AA he has about 200 AB with over 1.000 OPS.

Plenty of others to go around- Wagner, Beavers, Cowser, 

 

But at least so far some HOT starts from Haskin, Willems, Basallo, Kjerstad, Holliday, Prieto and very good to see some great pitching from Bright, McDermott, Povich!

How's his defense in outfield?  Is he going to be converted into a First Baseman?  Or is he serviceable in the outfield?

Wagner?  Yes.  Cowser is already rebounding and Beavers has been ok.  As of today, it’s really hard to find really bad disappointments.
 

1. Max Wagner ( not worried yet.  He’s making contact)

2. Carter Young (striking out a ton in low A.  Not good)

3. Anderson De Los Santos (cleanup hitter at Delmarva and breakout candidate.  Really rough start)

4. Juan De Los Santos - really rough first two starts repeating Delmarva.

 

It’s pretty tough to find really bad stories in the minors so far.  Carter Young is probably #1.

I Guess we’ll find out.  I think Santander is serviceable in the OF so yes in that sense I think Kjerstad is serviceable in the of.
