IFFB = infield fly ball? Crazy if true. If he never hits a pop up that could make the K's somewhat more acceptable.

Perhaps he can give Mullins some lessons.

I don’t like or take kindly to podcasts or fans disparaging Orioles players by suggesting they place themselves above the team. You shouldn’t either. The amount of vitriolic comments posed by orioles fans, particularly ones marinated in the years of woe from previous managers/owners seems to have warped their brains into the hopeful shoe drop. I respond in kind like killing a fly with a swatter.

I really don’t think I was speculating based on the past, but rather on my perceptions of the new generation of ballplayers overwhelmed by advanced stats and how their pay is based on them so heavily, as well as hearing it from the mouths of current players.

Did you watch any of the youtube clip? While I totally understand where you’re coming from and appreciate the check on my viewpoint, I really think the things said in the podcast are definite issues for consideration and hope you’ll watch it to see what you think.

Interesting tid-bit.  I was watching a Jomboy video this evening (Three Things).  He was reading a Redit post by a guy  that identified 5 1-tool players in MLB (they have one tool that is well above average and the other 4 below average).  That's not the interesting point.

In the comments to the Redit post, the same guy lists the 9 5-tool players in the league.   Henderson and Cowser were both identified as 5-tool players.   I found that interesting.   I wonder how Westburg stacks up to Cowser, because I would guess his hit tool is better?

I doubt Cowser will be a great hitter for average. But he could be a 4 tool player.

Yeah I don’t see 5 tools from Cowser. I think a Teoacar Hernandez-esque offensive profile is a more likely outcome. And one that I’d be quite happy with especially if he can keep playing an above average OF.

MLB average BA is .241. What does it take there to be considered a plus tool?

I think we all live in an Oriole vacuum and do not realize offense is down this year. Corbin Caroll is hitting .213 with 2 home runs.

Define "great hitter", when the league's "average" BA is .240. Which hitting parameter defines "greatness" in 2024?

Where do you find pitch per plate appearances? I feel like Cowser while striking out has competitive AB’s.

I feel just the opposite.  Cowser may not swing out of the zone too often but he also doesn’t grind out at bats by fouling tough pitches off.  He just misses them.
