This series was a wakeup call

How is that preferable to simply replacing Urias?

I said I don't know who will be on the team after the deadline. If Mayo gets called up it's not going to be to replace a RHB they are going to add a RHB.  It depends on who they trade.

I thought we were talking about bringing Mayo up sooner than that.

Then Cowser or Kjerstad goes down. I highly doubt they are bringing Mayo up when he can maintain rookie status in a few weeks, but we'll see. Cowser or Kjerstad will probably be traded for the right arm.

Good teams lose. Good teams get swept. Good teams do not get their knots pounded in on the regular. There have been way to many slap your grandma epic beatdowns handed to the orioles lately.  I just don’t see how it’s not a flashing lights, sirens blaring, calling all cars type of panic right now. Calling up mayo ain’t fixing this.

Makes me wonder. In the history of baseball slumps, how many turn arounds happened because the team upgraded the backup catcher?

Yes, people that want to upgrade with a SP who it is questionable whether he is better than Kremer, I don't see it stopping the slide.  O's need substantial upgrades to turn around their season.  Yes, they can probably make it in as a wild card, but I 'm not excited by a wild card berth and 1st round exit.

If this season ends like that I'm not sure I would ever be able to watch baseball again (and like most I fully knew the 2005 collapse was coming every step of the way)

I was in high school so delusional in many ways, and boy did I not see it coming.  What an awful season of baseball.  Did the Mothers Day Massacre happen up in Fenway that year?  I think at one point that season Javy Lopez managed to put himself out during a home run trot by over running the man on base… oof.

Mother's Day Massacre was 2007. I remember it well. Started with a dropped foul popup. Ugh! Javy overrunning first base was also 07. I said at the time, "leave it to the O's to hit a two-run homer and only get one run!"

2005 broke my baseball soul I thought beyond repair. Then I thought 2012 was 2005 part deux as we fell to two games above .500 shortly after the AS break and then rattled off a 5 game winning streak.

I think this is how the 2005 collapse started. Some major beatdowns. I remember the White Sox sweeping us and we kept dipping in the pen early and having starters having to pitch in between starts. Then at the end of that series Raffy tested positive for roids. Oh my!

No, the 2005 collapse started with lack of talent. Instead of Burnes and Grod as the 1, 2 punch you had  Bruce Chen and Bedard before he broke out, you think it gets bad after our 1, 2 , how Lopez Cabrera and Sidney Ponson. On offense you had a very respectable top 3 oh Roberts, Tejada and Mora, but after that the rest of lineup was replacement level or worse. So instead of complaining about the bottom third of our line up in 2005 it was the bottom two thirds. I'll let somebody else do the BP.the comparisons to 05 are laughable . Pump the Brakes

The ironic thing is, even if players like this had a chance to make an impact, they won't be brought up. If we can't bring up Mayo, how in the world are we going to bring up somebody like Colin Selby?

Don't pay any attention to who we have the minors, because you won't see them play in the majors this year! Management has cement bricks on the cleats of our current ML staff.

Smith has been recalled …

We just got shutdown by really good pitching from the NL. That happens. We scored 2 runs all series.

We had a let down sweep series vs Houston after the Yankees series.

We get swept versus the Cubs right before the Yankees series.

This was a classic look ahead spot.
