Counting this season, $69 million in money obligated for 9.6 fWAR (which will obviously be higher by season's end). Not awful on its face, I suppose, but half of that value is wrapped up in his 4.6 fWAR performance last year. I think it's going to look really bad come 2015-2017 ($63 million through his age 38 season).

I was expecting worse.

The Nats had to overpay to get anyone to go there and ownership is worth 3B so they had the money.

I was hoping for worse, given that they outspent his market by $30-40 million. In the end, I think they're going to wind up paying double his actual value. Still pretty bad.
