Excellent job by Givens to bridge the bullpen gap after Jimenez failed to go at least 5 innings with a big lead.

He inherited runners on 1st and 2nd base with one out. After ceding an RBI-single, he recorded 6 outs and only allowed one more base-runner (a hit batsman) before departing the game in the 7th inning.

He threw 30 Pitches (23 Strikes, 7 Balls) overall.

I hope he's not injured.  With Darren O'Day not pitching like Darren O'Day we cannot afford to lose him. 

He's not back up in the mid-90's in his next appearance there has to be some real concern.

I don't see them leaving him out there for so long if they had even an inkling he was hurt.

Givens and Drake haven't been perfect or even pretty out there, but they've saved our butts in like 4-5 games already this year.  Givens just was out of magic on Sunday vs. the Yanks.  

We talk about protecting Britton and Brach.  Really we need to talk about not overworking these guys too.  I think we only need one of Wilson and Nuno in the pen and another classic reliever type out there.  

Keep Nuno on the team through the 15th, when we need our 5th SP, then send the 5th SP and Nuno down for a guy like Chricton, Liranzo, Meisenger.

Givens entered the current season with 1.069 years of MLB service on his ledger, meaning he will not be able to qualify for arbitration next year as a Super Two. Instead, his first of three seasons of arb eligibility will begin in 2019 — his age-29 campaign.

I was listening to Casey Stern from MLB radio and he said Givens will be a multi-year 40+ save guy "when he figures out what he's doing."
