Maybe they didn't know the extent of Joey's injury like you apparently did.

Why are you unable to have a conversation without the snark? Joey has a bad injury to his thumb(i think). We didn't really have a backup for CF in a worse case scenario. They are facts, not me playing doctor or gm.

"Orioles' Joey Rickard to miss four to six weeks with thumb ligament injury" that was the Baltimore Sun's headline. O's went with 15 dl because of it being 6 weeks. We are now well beyond that. No biggie but it wasn't a small injury.

Not to mention there have been articles for at least the last 2-3 weeks talking about him being out longer than anticipated.

They seemed to think he would be available. Now it seems he isn't, where's the snark Troll?

I don't know what a "troll" is. I'm not going to play these games with you. I said they have needed a backup CF since the all star break. You are trying to create an argument for no reason.

From August 17th (2 weeks ago):

Outfielder Joey Rickard will have his right thumb in a splint for another two to three weeks following today’s appointment with a hand specialist.

The Orioles were hoping that Rickard would be available by Sept. 1, but that date no longer is attainable. However, they still anticipate that he will play next month.

2-3 weeks from August 17th would put him at September ~7th before the split is even removed. He'll need at least a week or possibly 2 to get back to the Orioles since he'll need to swing, do outfield drills, etc.

This has been the consensus across pretty much all publications for weeks now.

As I understand it.... We are hoping to get him in a few games the last week of the season to even see if he is a playoff option. One more or less option.

With today's two acquisitions I think BACKUP CF is covered well if Joey is lost. One right one left. Both even have some speed and stealing ability.
