Ramon Urias 2022

I was at the game yesterday. That home run sounded great off his bat.

That error, on the other hand? Not so good. I wish he could just be our every day 2nd baseman. His glove would play better.

By the way, he's reached base in 9 of his last 10 games. I don't think he's what's killing this team.

I forget if it was Tony or wildcard but think somebody posted about his lifetime splits in cold weather.

Would be sweet for him to get going in the warm with Mountcastle and Adley in the lineup soon.

Mateo's flashed enough I can't call SS still an entirely dead spot so we might get treated to 7.5/9ths of a real lineup this weekend.    I'd still guess No on Will Mateo be one of the world's 30 best shortstops for 2023 OD?

Keep making those double plays, Rougned!

I was surprised to look at Urias’ BB-ref page today and see he’d already been worth 1.0 rWAR this year.  He had an OPS of .812 for May coming into today’s play, and went 1 for 3 with a double in game one of the doubleheader so he’s up a notch from there.

Just goes to show you how volatile early season stats can be.

Here's a leaderboard I wouldn't have expected to see him flicker into:

Defensive WAR
1. Mateo  BAL 1.2
2. Gimenez  CLE 1.2
3. Pena  HOU 1.0
4. Velazquez  LAA 1.0
5. Crawford  SEA 0.8
6. Larnach  MIN 0.7
7. Hernandez  BOS 0.7
8. Schoop  DET 0.7
9. Torres  NYY 0.7
10. Fletcher  LAA 0.6
  Urias  BAL 0.6

Also I am 75% sure at this point B-Ref has Trevor Larnach mis-coded as a shortstop or something like that in the background.

But you're not surprised by Mateo at the top?! I certainly am.

I read my MASN graphics yesterday :)

Mateo is playing his way towards me being content with him as one-third of the 2023 bench, especially as Vavra's back and Jahmai's elbow ligaments seem not to want to cooperate.
