But again: they signed Chris Davis to comparable figures several years ago. If they wanted to, they could have afforded this.

The Yankees have handed out half-a-billion dollars this offseason.  The Orioles simply can't compete with this.

Didn't want him but would have preferred he went to SF or STL on the off chance that his arm holds up better in his 30s than it did in his 20s.

Very depressing! We needed a real good pitcher. That 18 million could have paid most of Bassitt 21 million salary this year. If we just did Bassitt and a backup catcher with playing the young guys, most fans would have been okay with that. I am still holding out hope that we are trading for that real good pitcher.
