I am thinking Ortiz is penciled in as the starting 2B primarily while he is up.  I also wonder if the Mateo injury may be still an issue and Ortiz is up to spell him a little.  Tonight's lineup will be telling.

Will be nice to see his debut, but I hope the promotion doesn't mean he's just depth and doesn't get his ABs.

Time to move Frazier to the bench. Here's a look at OPS and rWAR numbers from our infield:

Mateo: 1.049 OPS, 1.4 rWAR

Urias: .802 OPS, 0.8 rWAR

Henderson: .686 OPS, 0.1 rWAR

Frazier: .621 OPS, 0.5 rWAR

I think the Orioles need another actual outfielder on the roster (not Vavra or Frazier). Whether that is Cowser or Stowers or even Hudson Haskin, I don't understand carrying 2 backup middle infielders and only one backup outfielder.

I don't see how there is enough playing time for Ortiz without additional moves, especially against right-handed pitching.

I do suspect this may be a short-term move, but time will tell.

Frazier is the other backup corner outfielder. He's not a horrible defender out there, so I don't see the need to carry an extra one. But I will agree that they should add another real outfielder and get rid of McKenna.

With Mateo off to such a hot start, it seems like Westburg would make more sense. He has the better bat.

I wonder if not calling up an OF means that Hays is going to be in the lineup today or tomorrow

Another indication that we are in our competitive window......Vavra is still a decent prospect and despite demoting him to AAA it's still going to be challenging to find him at-bats.

I was hoping they'd wait until July, but now that he's here he should play just about every day. I've always thought it makes sense to put him at second base with Mateo or Holliday likely to cover short for the next decade or so.

I like my backup corner outfielder to have a little more bat than Frazier. I also prefer him to have played 200+ outfield innings in a season more recently than 2017.
