Still awful

Abysmal weather and an abysmal performance in game 1, coupled with the pricing issues that have been documented.....not shocking.  I'm sure it will fill in pretty well though.

I don't either but I'm hoping that opinion makes me look foolish in an hour or so.  I think its because he's a switch hitter, and being in the middle really plays well to the L/R/L in the lineup.  Problem w/ that is of course that he's a terrible hitter from both sides of the plate right now, so its not all that useful.

Then leave him on the bench to come it at the appropriate time. You have a gaping hole at #5 in your lineup from first pitch. Sorry, harsh words, but right now this is the truth. Hyde doesn't have the gravitas as a manager to sit the team's star players.

ESPN making Lugo sound borderline unhittable.  League leading pitcher in a bunch of advanced stats and throws 9 different pitches.  Not very encouraging.  Sounds like a terrible matchup for this lineup.

Hope O's can find a way to get to him and also get some luck/ breaks on our side.  Or best case he has a shaky start and they get to him early.

Hapless performance for 3 months, mid-week, 430pm game, the chance to attend the 10th L in a row in post season…..

Thats a tough ticket to sell.

I hope it doesn't to send a message to the organization. Lower prices and improve the product on the field.

There's zero reason to bench him, not like McCann gives us a better chance with the bat.  I agree he should be moved down.

Say what you will but its back to back playoff teams for the first time in 27 years.  The fan base simply cannot be that spoiled.  No message needs to be sent, they're all watching too.

All I ask today is please give us something to cheer for. Just have competitive ABs with an offensive plan. Don't just go up there trying to mash everything. Efflin goes 5+ and BP closes it out. Let's gooooo

I didn't say they are the White Sox. I said that the team fielded an under .500 ballclub for the past three months. Injuries played a part, but every team has injuries. Plus this bullpen is in the lower third of the league.

    • Hard to argue with a lot of your points. He's had two 1-1 and should have taken Witt over Rutschman and has a poor defensive second baseman with hitting issues with his other one.  He gets one more offseason with bigger pocketbooks. He gets one more year to put up or shutup.
    • Baseball is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall all alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops. A. Bartlett Giamatti, Take Time for Paradise: Americans and Their Games
    • Let him walk. That pop up with the bases loaded and no outs sort of encapsulates the entire postseason for us. It was a pathetic effort and we ended up with squat in a clutch situation.  The HRs are cool but he doesn't hit for average and is only getting older. And he sucks in the playoffs. Goodbye.
    • Is Brandon Hyde going to pull out the “ we just need to do a better job” boilerplate or is he coming up with another way to say the same thing?    It’s easy to be snarky right now. There’s choking under pressure and there’s whatever the team has done over the last couple months. “Choke” doesn’t begin to cover the gag they threw up the last two nights when the season was on the line. Fans leaving the stadium right now aren’t just disappointed, many of them feel betrayed. Hard to blame them. I wonder if Elias might feel the same way.
    • I just can't comprehend how the 2023 team PLUS Corbin Burnes devolved into this pile of excrement. This may be a .500, non-playoff team next year. I didn't expect any sort of magical run this playoff season, but I didn't think they'd get embarrassed AGAIN on the national stage.
    • Better yet, where was Adam Frazier when we needed him most.....oh, wait, in the other dugout.    Bases loaded, no one out....sure could have used that guy that Hangouters had to jettison out of here favor of Jackson Holliday.
