Even though you're joking, I think it's only fair to point out that if not for McKenna, there's 2 games we probably would have lost. One was his walk off home run. The other was his game saving catch at the RF wall in Fenway a few weeks ago.

Overall, that's a plus 1 win on behalf of McKenna's contribution when you consider all 3 games together.

Sure, if you just consider those 3 games.  I can also remember other games where McKenna didn't have his head in the game, or made a costly mistake, and while it didn't cost us as obviously as the Boston game, he likely contributed to other loses as well.  Point being we can't take an extreme SSS like one game in Boston to define him, but nor can we take an almost equally SSS of two games where he largely contributed to the win.  Overall he was a 0.4 WAR player (per baseball reference) and that sounds about right.

But again, I was just joking, and not really wanting to argue the virtues or the lack thereof of Ryan McKenna, was just having some fun on a day when we've come close to clinching the best record in the AL.  🙂

Why is tomorrow’s game have so many open seats.  Orioles need to do a massive marketing campaign to get people to come.  Discount upper deck to a flat rate.  Something.  Seems silly they don’t make an effort knowing it’s a Thursday game.

Mr. Angelos said we need to massively hike prices up to compete remember? 😒

Best position player the Orioles minor league system produced between 1981 and 2012.

Gunnar Henderson has also entered the chat....

While I will take it on faith that Gunnar Henderson was extaordinarily talented in his age 11 season, I do not think the Orioles can claim the credit for developing him in 2012.

I'd say Markakis has him beat.

It’s at least a close discussion.  If you’re talking about a 4-5 year peak, Roberts is probably better.  Career-wise, I would choose Markakis, who had enough sense not to hit himself over the head with a baseball bat and shorten the productive part of his career.

Didn’t the Orioles have like a 7 run lead in the 8th inning when McKenna made that catch your talking about?

Not only that, the HR was with 1 out in a tie game in the bottom of the 10th when we had a runner at second.  I don't see how that is a "probably lose" situation.  Possible loss, sure, but I gotta imagine the percentages are in our favor that game regardless if he doesn't hit that HR.
