Did anyone happen to catch this afternoon's game in Atlanta on TBS? If ever there was a single game that proved the sabermetric theory that pitchers have little control over what happens to balls in play, this was it. Atlanta won the game 9-8 in the 9th after being down 8-2 to start the bottom of the 8th. They scored 4 in the 8th and 3 in the 9th. The 3 in the 9th came after 2 outs.

The Phillies were literally blooped and dribbled to death. It seemed like every single hit was a softly hit blooper just over the head of the infielders, or a slowly hit dribbler past the mound. It was one of the most incredible things I've ever seen. They don't do it justice, but here are some of the MLB Gameday play-by-play descriptions:

In the 8th:

Brian McCann singles on a soft fly ball to right fielder Chris Roberson.

Jeff Francoeur singles on a pop up to second basemen Chase Utley.

Scott Thorman singles on a soft fly ball to left fielder Jayson Werth.

Matt Diaz singles on a soft ground ball to shortstop Jimmy Rollins.

In the 9th:

Jeff Francouer singles on a ground ball to shortstop Jimmy Rollins.

Martin Prado singles on a ground ball to pitcher Brett Myers.
