I only caught the tail end of Clemete's career. I was in second grade when he died.

I've seen some great documentaries on him. His best friend was Manny Sanguillen. Instead of attending Clemente's funeral, Sanguillen actually went into the waters off of the coast where the plane had crashed, looking for his friend (Clemente's body was never discovered, and Sanguillen didn't want to believe that he was dead). For months after that, Sanguillen continued to go to the beach/coast and stand there, waiting for Clemente to come back.
