The Tides' broadcaster said that Wright was using Major League baseballs when pitching tonight.

He stated that if you are a major league pitcher on a rehab stint, you get to pitch with Major League baseballs.

Everybody else has to pitch with International League baseballs.

TAMPA BAY DEVIL RAYS O(SEPTEMBER 5th)

Ben Revere - LF

Josh Donaldson - 3B

Jose Bautista - RF

Edwin Encarnacion - DH

Troy Tulowitzki - SS

Justin Smoak - 1B

Russell Martin - C

Ryan Goins - 2B

Kevin Pillar - CF

David Taylor Price - LHP (13-5, 2.47 ERA) *

* (9-4, 2.53 ERA) O[DETROIT TIGERS] OOO (4-1, 2.28 ERA) O[TORONTO BLUE JAYS]

This is a very righthanded heavy lineup. I don't think any of their lefties can hurt us, with the possible exception of Smoak who I see as an underachiever. If Mike is consistently down in the zone and throws strikes, I think he can have success today. Big if.

Oh my. Wright is pitching on short rest. This will be his 3rd start in nine days. I know he's rehabbing but I was hoping we were getting the extra rest, throwing upper 90's Wright. Instead this

8/27 4IP 51 pitches

9/1 6 IP 65 pitches

I guess the plan is to have him "start" and go to the pen as soon as we need to. I'll be watching and rooting. Hopefully he goes all out and tosses up something like 3-4 Innings of scoreless baseball then we go to the pen.

Or, they just want to watch him punch the bench again.
