His stuff has looked good, but let's keep in mind that he has faced three of the lowest scoring teams in the AL. Let's see how he fares against better lineups.

Agree with this. The Yankees are not the Yankees right now. He gon' need to have that slider consistently if the success is going to continue.

He basically made one mistake. Otherwise, he was pretty dominant. I was impressed with how he took care of the next three batters after allowing the game tying homer. 98 mph gas after 110 pitches.

We've had plenty of the other kind of folks who come apart after the hung pitch.

CALIFORNIA ANGELS O (MAY 21st)

Yunel Escobar - 3B

Kole Calhoun - RF

Mike Trout - CF

Albert Pujols - DH

Christopher John Cron - 1B

Johnny Giavotella - 2B

Rafael Ortega - LF

Jeff Bandy - C

Gregorio Petit - SS

Matthew David Shoemaker - RHP (2-5, 8.49 ERA)

That lineup, 6 through 9 is beyond weak along with Pujols dismal performance and he should dominate them.

He needs to throttle back on the use of the CU and go back to a get me over version on it to start a hitter off when their looking for a 95+ mph FB or burying it when he's way ahead as a waste pitch.

Started off pretty terrible with his control, but really turned it around. But once again, the sad story of the offense.

I still think he's their best starter, but he needs to nail down a few things before he takes the step of becoming a consistently dominant starting pitcher. Too many hits on 0-2 and he needs better FB command. I'd like to see him pitch in more with the FB instead of letting guys get extended, but I think he defers to Wieters. If they sit dead red on 95+ out over the plate it's much easier to handle than in on the hands. Number nine guys in the order shouldn't be that difficult.
