The Lost Weekend

I thought that it was bad when the Orioles were swept by the Houston Astros 2 weeks ago by scores of 2-0, 5-2, and 8-4, respectively.

That was bad, but it was not nearly as bad as what happened this weekend.

 

The Yankees outscored the Orioles by a composite score of 38-8 in the 3 games that they played. It was reminiscent of the "Boston Massacre" in 1978, when the Yankees swept the Red Sox in 4 games at Fenway Park in early September. In that series, the Yankees outscored the Red Sox by a score of 42-9 in those 4 games.

Jonathan Schoop hit a 2-run home run in the top of the 2nd inning on Friday evening, and it was all downhill for the Orioles after that. 

 

As a lifelong Oriole fan, this was very much a lost weekend for me.

Mostly by circumstance, but also be design I missed a chunk of it. There is nothing more demoralizing than horrendous starting pitching. Even more so than a blown save by your ace closer I think.

It was a sad, brutal, disgusting weekend.  I'm not sure where they go from here.  Not ready for them to blow it up, but something has to change.

I didn't see an at-bat in this series. I didn't think we were going to win a game, but I had no idea it was gone be this bad.

Embarrassing all the way around.  Even when our offense goes up and puts 5 early runs on the board they just go into coast mode the rest of the game.  Those guys kept after it and scrapped.  

This team is just not fun too watch.  No SP.  No baserunners.
