Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti told ESPN.com's Jayson Stark on Monday that he ran into the free agent on Sunday night in a hotel lobby and the left-hander told him that he wants to be a Dodger.

Although the New York Yankees and Milwaukee Brewers have made offers to the prize of the free-agent class, speculation continued that Sabathia would want to play near the home he is building in Southern California.

I'd love to see Sabathia spurn the Yankees. But it would kinda suck to see them get into the Tex sweepstakes. So I'm hoping we sign Tex quickly, then Sabathia spurns the Yankees.

No surprise there. Sabathia has been pretty candid about his desire to remain in the National League and to be with a contending team on the West Coast. The Dodgers are the only team which fits his criteria to a "T".

This would be great for sooo many reasons. Stay across the country CC! I would love to see the Yanks lose out on the biggest pitching prospect in baseball. They'd probably get Tex then and we'd be the butt of the joke as usual, but we could still enjoying CC spurning them.
